Fan-Girling into Geekdom...

I have mentioned how much of a geek I am a few times, and you have even seen traces of it in my multiple film and show reviews...

But I don't think I have ever fully geeked out in a post (except maybe here). Until today.
And keep in mind that I am a Screen Media major, I study this stuff and would love to work in the industry. So when I geek out... I GEEK out. So bare with me!

Today I am going to talk about Supernatural. This show is my all-time favourite, and as strange as it is (being that it is only a show) it holds a very important place in my heart. I have stuck with this show for seven seasons, that range from absolutely brilliant, to somewhat lacklustre. But no matter how bad an episode seems, it is still Supernatural and I still love it.

With the most recent two seasons, the writers have really been testing the fans dedication to the show. They weren't bad, in fact compared to many of the shows on TV now they were fantastic, but they didn't quite compare to previous seasons standards.

The writers just didn't seem to have a clear direction, it was like they were trying to jump between to many things at once but they didn't know where they wanted to end up. The character also didn't have the same depth as they used to. Sam and Dean switched between emotions constantly, one minute depressed about the world ending, the next kicking butt with all the determination in the world. It just didn't make sense.

Thats not to say that it was terrible. I did still really enjoy it and I am a loyal fan, but I really hope they step it up as we move into season 8. There are heaps of fan discussions (this is my fav place for them) out there about what the fans want to see in season 8 and after reading ALL OF THEM erm, a few, I have decided to add my two cents right here. So if you don't watch Supernatural then you should go and watch it now, and if you do then I want to know your opinions as well!

The countdown till season 8 is on!

Here are my thoughts about what I would love to see in Supernatural's 8th season!
*Spoiler Alert*
(Don't say I didn't warn you)

Dean Winchester: I would love to see Dean go back to how he was in the earlier seasons. Obviously they have gone through so much that going back too far wouldn't work, but something needs to change. Have him talk about his time in Hell and Purgatory, to Sam and allow him to start to heal. Have him accept the fact that they can't save everyone, and reintroduce his fire and love for hunting. I think this has got to be my main "want". Bring back bad-ass, snarky, angry, worlds best hunter Dean. We want him back! But more grown up, the things he has been through need to fuel his desire to hunt, not reduce him to a snivelling mess.

Sam Winchester: I am a bit more open when it comes to Sam, I don't want season 1 puppy dog Sam, but I definitely don't want angry, cold, soul-less Sam. He needs to have a clear direction and motive for what he does this season. Have him help bring Dean back to kick-ass, have him be the steady, rational hunter. Something. And involve him more, while he has always been important, the focus has definitely shifted to Dean over the last few seasons, and I think Sammy needs to be and equal focus.

Plot: I don't care. I really don't. As long as the writers have a clear structure! Have a clear season arc, have a clear idea for week to week episodes. Make sure they work well together. And I think focus these things around the boys relationship. Not fit the relationship into what is happening each week.

And Most Importantly: Bring back Sam and Dean! Not Sam doing this while Dean is doing that. Bring back the Winchesters! The relationship between the boys is the main reason the show works so well! Or worked so well, it used to be all about them, now not so much. This is what the fans want most. The brotherly relationship where they care so much about each other they would do anything for each other. Do this and the show is saved.

So there you have it. I am a full on fan-girling geek. Maybe you don't care, maybe you do... But I do, so I'm putting it out there. And I know Supernatural fans are opinionated so if you disagree, don't yell, tell me what you believe. I am interested.

Here's to a fantastically refreshing season of my favourite show!

On Your Screen

Helloooo and welcome back to another week of On Your Screen with me and Abby!
Grab a button and link up!!

Life As I Know It

This week is somewhat of a warning...
I am a huge fan of watching budget or indie horror films, sometimes they suck, other times they are epic and can scare the crap out of me!!

This one was not epic.

Black Forest
"Black Forest tells the chilling story of tourists lost in a magical forest, who battle evil fairy tale creatures plotting to kidnap one of their babies and slaughter the rest of them. Cast members include Tinsel Korey, Ben Cross (Chariots of Fire), Dhafer L’Abadine, Oliver James, Andy Clemence and Howerd Charles."

The main reason I wanted to watch this movie? Oliver James. He is pretty darn hot! And British (or so I hoped) and he was fantastic in Raise Your Voice and What a Girl Wants. So I was mildly hopeful...
Sadly I was disappointed though, He was still gorgeous (although unfortunately playing a nerd *sad face*) but the movie was beyond terrible. Firstly, he put on an American accent, which he did fine, but he just suits being British!! Its why people love him. And then there was the film itself. Badly written, with the worlds cheesiest lines... Case and Point: "I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll eat all your meaty bits" Seriously?

Anyway guys, I want ramble too much this week, I just thought as an avid movie watcher I should warn you, It's not worth it :( They didn't quite pull this one off unfortunately.

Link on up and share with us your movie or TV experiences... Good or bad!

Sunday Social

Today I decided to try a brand new link-up, for me. I have seen this one on all your blogs and decided to link up this week as its all about my favourite topic... TV!

So here we are with Sunday Social
Sunday Social

1. What is your favorite TV show of the past?
Hmmm I guess it depends how far in the past. I think Smallville counts, but if you want further back... Full House. LOVED Full House!

2. What is your current favorite TV show?
I would have to say Supernatural and Cougar Town. But there are so many other contenders... Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries, True Blood, The Walking Dead, Hart of Dixie and on and on.

3. Which reality show would you NEVER do?
Fear Factor. As much as I love the show I just couldn't handle the surprises. You would have no idea what you would end up doing.

4. Which reality show would you LOVE to do?
The Glee Project haha, if only I could sing well enough. It just looks so fun and they all seem to make friends. Plus meeting the Glee cast. FUN

5. What is the TV personality/character that you feel is most like you?
Oooh I dunno :/ this is a hard one! I think maybe April Kepner from Grey's Anatomy. A little reserved but cheerful and likeable. Other than that I'm not sure?

6. Which TV character would you want to date?
This is a good one! I think its a tie at the moment (there are many others!) between Jeremy Gilbert from Vampire Diaries, Wade Kinsella from Hart of Dixie, and John Snow from Game of Thrones... yummy!

Woohoo! Well that was fun huh?
Have a great day!

On Your Screen...

YAY!
It's time for On Your Screen again!!
(I'm seriously that excited!)

Life As I Know It

This week I thought I would review one of my favourite TV shows...

The title of the show sometimes puts people of this little comedy gem BUT don't let it fool you!!
The writers regret the name, but I wouldn't want them to change it! It works somehow.
It really has nothing to do with being a cougar, and everything to do with family, friends, life and wine.
So. Much. Wine.

The characters are what make this show so fantastic! They are each unique and have their quirks that make them so likeable, and they are all sarcastic and snarky in the best possible way. Plus they all insult each other in hilarious ways that keeps it real, and light-hearted.

The show also has a heap of "inside jokes" which make you love it so much more! Things like "PennyCan", and sayings you will find your self integrating into real life... It happens.

It will also make you want to non-stop drink red wine. Seriously. Look what Jules drinks out of...
First Big Joe, then Big Carl, and now Big Lou. And yes, funerals were held for both the deceased wine glasses. Fantastic!

The writing is also so witty!! Its fast-paced and sarcastic (quite Gilmore Girls meets Friends) and its perfect! Check out Laurie ordering coffee after she changed all the names, she thought they were too confusing before...
I just rewatched this 5, yup count it 5, times while writing this post!

Ok thats all because I have rambled a little. Watch it. Like Now.
Have a great Tuesday and link up below with you TV/Film posts!!

On Your Screen Link-Up!

Hey guys!! It is time for the second On Your Screen link-up!
This week I thought I would let you in on some of my most recent TV obsessions!! Some of them are current, are some are repeat offenders (I love re-watching my favs!)

So here is how I spend most of my free time...

Criminal Minds
via
This is both a current obsession and a repeat-offender. It's one of my all-time favourite shows, I watch the 4 seasons I have on DVD over and over and also watch the current season on TV every Monday night!!

Criminal Minds is both hilarious and a little scary, that's why I love it. The characters are so well developed that you grow attached to them, but they don't take over the episodes with their personal drama. You can easily watch a stand-alone episode and follow it, but knowing the characters adds to the depth.

Pretty Little Liars
via
This show has just started playing its 3rd season and it is getting GOOD. Its a bit cheesy but such a fun show to watch, full of scandal, secrets, and twists!

Plus the fashion on the show is amazing and there are plenty of cute boys to stare at! It's definitely one to check out!!

True Blood
via
If you have never watched True Blood you should go start right now!! (after linking up of course). It is fantastic! The perfect mix of sexy, scary, and comedy. And you get to stare at this for a whole 60 minutes...

Nice huh?!
Season 5 has just started and I'm so excited to see whats to come!! So many twists and turns you actually never know what's going to happen...

Smallville
An oldie but a goodie! I can watch this series over and over again and still love it! Admittedly it does take a while as there are 10 season but its worth it! I have always been a bit of a geek so I love a good superhero story, and this one is great!

Plus its crazy how many actors made appearances in Smallville when they were starting out... There are hundreds!! Its so funny seeing them pop up every now and again.
Amy Adams                 Ian Somerhalder
Colbie Smulders                 Tori Spelling

So this is what I am currently obsessing over... But I'm a TV addict so no doubt there will be more soon!

What are you currently watching?! Link-up you film/TV related posts!

Not a Good Day...

So today was supposed to be a good day of lazing around, reading blogs and watching movies but as soon as I was rudely awakened I knew it was all going down hill.

I was having a great dream. Like really good. Rupert Grint was a rockstar and he was playing a small show that I obviously was attending. He started off playing Meatloaf's 'Paradise by The Dashboard Light' (which thanks to my parents  I LOVE) then he switched to Ed Sheeran's Lego House and he was totally serenading me *drool*

UNTIL

there was an explosion of chainsaws from my neighbours house at 8am!!! 8AM!! For a normal person this may seem  like a reasonable time to get up. But not for a student, and not for me! I HATE mornings. Plus I wanted to perv at Rupert Grint more, I mean I was about to go backstage...

Then I got hit with the monthly curse of being a girl (too much information?) and it was BAD, like writhing on the floor, blacking out and fainting in the shower, I'm going to throw up bad. So I spent all day in bed cowering in pain and watching Criminal Minds to try and take my mind off it.

So no fancy, exciting post today.
Hope your days were better than mine :)
