Coffee Talk!

Two posts in one day?! I think I have lost it, but I haven't really done a link-up in a while and the last question of this weeks Coffee Talk made me laugh so much, so I had to link up!

1. What type of phone do you have?
A Samsung something-or-other. Its a brick and has budget touch screen, but also has a flip out QWERTY keyboard which is nice.

2. Look to your right. What do you see?
A mirror, my sister was doing her make-up in the lounge earlier, and as usual she forgot to put it away. Sisters right?!

3. List 5 random facts about yourself...
Oh crap I suck at these!! Um...
1. I hate peas more than any other food type. Ever.
2. I taught myself guitar, but am way to uncoordinated to play piano.
3. I re-watch shows I love over and over, even though I know exactly what happens.
4. I hate running but am determined to one day enjoy it.
5. I love Christmas shopping for girls, but never know what to get guys!

4. What is that one talent you wish you were great at?
Singing. Sometimes my voice sounds quite good and will stay good all day, other times I sound terrible. I wish it was more consistent.

5. 5. Go to Wikipedia.org and hit random article. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band. Go to quotationspage.com and click random quotes. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first ...album. Go to weheartit.com and click on “explore”. Seventh picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover. Use picmonkey.com to put it all together. Now show us your album :)
Haha this is the reason I wanted to link-up this week! I actually lucked out, and my album looks pretty legit!
How awesome is that?! I should make this a reality! Maybe once my wish of singing comes true...

Christmas Sweater Party!

I feel like we miss out on Christmas Sweaters here in New Zealand. They don't really seem to be a thing. We get the occasional one that is trying to be "fashionably cute" but none of the ugly Christmas sweater stuff I see all over the internet, and I'm jealous!

My sister and I have always wanted our own Christmas sweaters and when I'm in the states next Christmas it will be my mission to find one of my very own!! I'm particularly loving these ones right now, although some of them don't really fit the "ugly" part!

A Little Christmas Cheer

I have been finding myself in a somewhat lackluster Christmas mood. Which for me is a bit of a concern. I LOVE Christmas! It is my all-time favourite holiday, and just about my favourite time of the year. However this year isn't quite as exciting for some reason. Maybe it really is true that as you get older, Christmas gets less fun.

I hope not.

So to cheer myself up and get in the holiday mood I plan to watch as many Christmas movies as I can before the big day itself. I will pull out my old favourites and try watch some new ones. There are definitely plenty of them!!

Here are a few that I love to watch every holiday season...

The Nightmare Before Christmas
One of my all-time favourites!!

Home Alone
Oh Home Alone! Good times! And I actually enjoy all the films, even after the kid changed.

The Santa Clause
This one can be super annoying but I feel like its not Christmas unless I have watched them!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Jim Carrey's best role and such a cute film! I love watching this one and singing along!

Love Actually
Gotta watch this one each year, its tradition!

So what are your favourite holiday films? Are they all Christmas movies, or a slightly different tradition?

A Moment of Silence

In light of the horrific shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut, we bloggers are banding together and doing what we can to help. It may not be much comfort to those who have lost their loved ones, but hopefully it will show our support and that our prayers are with them.

...............................................................

To the Blog World and Anyone Else who Wants to Help:

Yesterday, tragedy struck so many of us in ways we did not foresee. An elementary school and small town in Connecticut was shattered by a mass shooting. We knew we wanted to help and we came up with this:

On Tuesday, December 18th, there will be a blogger day of silence. We will post the button and that's it. Please try to not post anything else that day if possible.

We are also raising money that will go to an organization in the memory of this tragedy. The organization is calledThe Newtown Family Youth and Family Services. Here is the official description of the support service we are donating to:

"Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic and youth services bureau dedicated to helping children and families achieve their highest potential. NYFS provides programs, services, activities, counseling, support groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area.

ANY DONATIONS MADE TO NEWTOWN YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THOSE EFFECTED BY THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING."

Please visit THIS PAGE to make your donation.

We can't imagine how they must be feeling, especially this close to the holidays. We would love for you to spread the word on your own blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Let's make a difference and use blogging in a positive way. Thank you in advance for participating.

 Love,
The Blog World

p.s. If you would like to, copy-paste and repost any part of this, please do. Share on. If you would like the HTML for this post, please email me and I can send it to you.

The Disney Application Process

The Disney Intern-ship has been on my radar for quite a while now, my friend Abbie originally introduced me to what sounded like an exciting and improbable chance-of-a-lifetime. She looked into it and discovered what the first steps were to get involved, and after talking about it for days a while I was sold on the idea, so I got involved as well!

  • Step one is look on the website, and find out if your country is a part of the intern-ship! You then acquire the right email address for where you are, and email them your CV and a cover letter simply stating your interest in the program!
  • After I emailed them I got a reply telling me when the next seminar/interviews were. They give you a list of paperwork you must bring with you for you interview. You then obviously attend said interview!
Originally I went to a seminar in April?ish with Abbie and Rachel, but while we were there Rach and I decided the January program wasn't for us, as we would miss our 21sts, graduation, and it wouldn't give us much time to save money! So we decided we would come back and interview in September for the August intake! Abbie however interviewed right then and there, and three weeks later found out SHE GOT IN!
  • So, the interview. I was terrified!! I posted about my initial thoughts here, but thought I would go into a little more detail. We sat through the program seminar (for the second time) and answered some fun questions, learning more about Disney World and the program itself. We then organised to interview that evening as we couldn't travel back the next day (this was touch and go for a while, and made the wait extremely stressful!) BUT once I actually got to the interview my nerves kind of disappeared.
- My interviewer Jenni was so lovely! It was honestly less of an interview and more of a formal chat. She went through a bunch of questions, and I answered them as best I could. None of them were all that difficult, so I just made sure I was happy and chatty, and as polite and "Disney" as I could possibly be!!

- The question were very standard questions for this kind of thing. "Why do you want to do this?" Why have you chosen Disney" and that kind of thing. There were also questions about previsou work experience, if you had lived away from home or flatted before and a variety of other questions. There were also specifics about what role you were interested in doing while on the program, and one that surprised me momentarily "What is your favourite Disney film" (I answered Robin Hood & Peter pan in case you were wondering)

- I honestly can't remember much else about it, it was such a blur of nervous energy, but so much fun at the same time!! I knew even if I didn't get in, it would be a fantastic interviewing experience! If you have any specific questions about my interview I can answer them, but right now I'm blank!
  • Next was the wait! And let me tell you it was excruciating! After our interviews we were told we would find out our fate after two weeks. To me that seemed like a very fast response for something like this, but it seemed like such a long time as well. But exactly two weeks later I got the email that would change my life! My reaction went a little something like this...

So there you have it. A long and exciting process... If you have any questions feel free to email me and ask   sinead(dot)elle(at)hotmail(dot)com and I can go into more details, or provide you with other links!

Next up will be where we go from here...

What Do I Want for Christmas?

I honestly can't believe how close Christmas is now!! Seriously?! How has the year gone by so quickly. I feel like it has been a bizarre mix of moving too fast and going to slow.

The question on everybody's lip these days is
"What Do You Want for Christmas?"
and you know what... I have no idea.

Being a poor student this year has meant I haven't been able to splurge on the things I wanted, I haven't bought new clothes in a long time (unless they cost less than $10) and I have always been lusting over something new. But now that it has come to telling people what I want I can't think of anything. I need lots, new clothes, new make up, money, but I just suck at coming up with a definitive answer.

So my question for you is... What should I want for Christmas? Do you have items on your list you feel everyone should want? Something you know a 20 year old film student/soon-to-be traveller/book fiend/coffee drinker/blog designer shouldn't be without?

I'm thinking necessities rather than pretty items that will sit on a shelf for a year. I am packing up my life and moving across the world in August afterall!!

So what do you think? Help me out?
