Wanderlust...

I have been hit with an extreme case of wanderlust recently...
I have been so busy with Uni projects, super stressed out, and exhausted in general.
I am really looking forward to this yea being over, finally graduating, and starting my life!

Which is why I am currently in wanderlust with Florida.

I mentioned earlier in the year that my friends and I are applying for a International Intern-ship at Disneyworld, Florida. My friend and former flatmate Abbie got into the January program, and Rachel and I are applying for the August program. Our interviews are in September and I'm freaking out!

I have never been to Disneyland, never even been to the USA so I am so excited about the chance to live over there for a year! I really want to get in, as I don't know what I want to do with my life yet, so this would be the perfect filler until I know for sure. Plus, Disney, how cool would that be!

Florida looks so pretty, and despite the heat and humidity issues me and my hair would have, I am crossing my fingers and praying that I get accepted! In the meantime I am dreaming of Florida beaches...

And of course this place... Hello? Life Complete!

Wish me luck for September!
And meanwhile I will be wading through piles of work, dreaming of escaping to Florida!

That Time I {Momentarily} Stole a Cat...

I stole a cat yesterday.
There's this neighbourhood cat that is tiny and super cute and friendly and it's always hanging around. Yesterday I was letting my friend in and it darted inside the door. Most people would have grabbed it, patted it, and sent it on its way. But it seemed so happy inside so I took it for a while...
Oops

But seriously, how could you turn down this face?
We named her(?) Pepper. New best friend!
(Don't worry, I returned her... For now)

In other news...

I have been thinking about this for quite a while now.
I try to make as much time for blogging as I can because I love it and I love you guys, so even though I have been super busy I have always kept that up. But during this my attention to my sponsor has been somewhat neglected. I had feature spots, medium spots and swaps... all who deserved my attention. And unfortunately I could not keep it up.

So I have changed things up.

I now have one size only.

The Fabulous Sponsor Spot.
A 200x250 button spot that is featured on my sidebar, comes with a introduction post, social media shoutouts and the option for a group giveaway.
There are only 4 available so all my love and attention will be on you guys!

and best of all its only $5!

So if you would like to be featured on Sinead in the Sun, visit my sponsor page and sign up! I would love to have you here :D

Fan-Girling into Geekdom...

I have mentioned how much of a geek I am a few times, and you have even seen traces of it in my multiple film and show reviews...

But I don't think I have ever fully geeked out in a post (except maybe here). Until today.
And keep in mind that I am a Screen Media major, I study this stuff and would love to work in the industry. So when I geek out... I GEEK out. So bare with me!

Today I am going to talk about Supernatural. This show is my all-time favourite, and as strange as it is (being that it is only a show) it holds a very important place in my heart. I have stuck with this show for seven seasons, that range from absolutely brilliant, to somewhat lacklustre. But no matter how bad an episode seems, it is still Supernatural and I still love it.

With the most recent two seasons, the writers have really been testing the fans dedication to the show. They weren't bad, in fact compared to many of the shows on TV now they were fantastic, but they didn't quite compare to previous seasons standards.

The writers just didn't seem to have a clear direction, it was like they were trying to jump between to many things at once but they didn't know where they wanted to end up. The character also didn't have the same depth as they used to. Sam and Dean switched between emotions constantly, one minute depressed about the world ending, the next kicking butt with all the determination in the world. It just didn't make sense.

Thats not to say that it was terrible. I did still really enjoy it and I am a loyal fan, but I really hope they step it up as we move into season 8. There are heaps of fan discussions (this is my fav place for them) out there about what the fans want to see in season 8 and after reading ALL OF THEM erm, a few, I have decided to add my two cents right here. So if you don't watch Supernatural then you should go and watch it now, and if you do then I want to know your opinions as well!

The countdown till season 8 is on!

Here are my thoughts about what I would love to see in Supernatural's 8th season!
*Spoiler Alert*
(Don't say I didn't warn you)

Dean Winchester: I would love to see Dean go back to how he was in the earlier seasons. Obviously they have gone through so much that going back too far wouldn't work, but something needs to change. Have him talk about his time in Hell and Purgatory, to Sam and allow him to start to heal. Have him accept the fact that they can't save everyone, and reintroduce his fire and love for hunting. I think this has got to be my main "want". Bring back bad-ass, snarky, angry, worlds best hunter Dean. We want him back! But more grown up, the things he has been through need to fuel his desire to hunt, not reduce him to a snivelling mess.

Sam Winchester: I am a bit more open when it comes to Sam, I don't want season 1 puppy dog Sam, but I definitely don't want angry, cold, soul-less Sam. He needs to have a clear direction and motive for what he does this season. Have him help bring Dean back to kick-ass, have him be the steady, rational hunter. Something. And involve him more, while he has always been important, the focus has definitely shifted to Dean over the last few seasons, and I think Sammy needs to be and equal focus.

Plot: I don't care. I really don't. As long as the writers have a clear structure! Have a clear season arc, have a clear idea for week to week episodes. Make sure they work well together. And I think focus these things around the boys relationship. Not fit the relationship into what is happening each week.

And Most Importantly: Bring back Sam and Dean! Not Sam doing this while Dean is doing that. Bring back the Winchesters! The relationship between the boys is the main reason the show works so well! Or worked so well, it used to be all about them, now not so much. This is what the fans want most. The brotherly relationship where they care so much about each other they would do anything for each other. Do this and the show is saved.

So there you have it. I am a full on fan-girling geek. Maybe you don't care, maybe you do... But I do, so I'm putting it out there. And I know Supernatural fans are opinionated so if you disagree, don't yell, tell me what you believe. I am interested.

Here's to a fantastically refreshing season of my favourite show!

A Little Country...

Now I don't know if you know this about me, but I love me some Country music. We don't get a lot of it here in New Zealand (or any at all) so I have to satisfy my cravings musically online and via CD's. At the moment I am listening to Scotty McCreary and Hunter Hayes on repeat!

But the other thing I am missing out on is Country Chic fashion...
We get little bits and pieces of it as the seasons styles change but never quite to the same extent. The one thing I have always wanted to rock but never really had the chance is...

Cowboy Boots. People don't really wear them here. It makes me sad.
So I am currently crushing on a little bit of the south!

Current Crush Thursdays

I decided to use Polyvore for the first time and I wish I owned all these items! So cute!

On Your Screen...

Hey there guys! It's time for On Your Screen again!
This weeks theme is a fantastic one so get your posts ready and tell us your...
Favorite TV Shows from the 90's!

I have many favorites as I was after all a child of the 90's so I will share just a few...

Full House

Did anyone not like Full House?
It is a classic! So cheesy but so full of goodness! And who can forget about Uncle Jesse. I'm sure I had a crush on him at the age of about 8. Craziness.

Charmed

I'm going to include this show as it began in the 90's and I watched it then when I was around 9 or 10 and it was my introduction into more adult shows. I'm pretty sure my mum did not approve of me watching, and now when I re-watch it I can understand why. There is a lot of sex stuff in it haha. But it is fantastic and I still love it even now.It is definitely one of my favourites.

The Beetleborgs

Not as many people have heard of this show as I thought but I loved it. I guess I was a bit of a tomboy back in the day, occasionally. But my friend and I used to play The Beetleborgs at playtime and I was always the only girl, the red one, and he switched between the two boys. Looking back now, this show is about as cheesy as you can get, but at the time it was legendary!

So those are some of my favourite shows from the... interesting... decade that was the 90's.

Wacky Theatre Antics #2

So I have posted about my crazy Theatre class before and I have a new instalment for you all! Today was definitely one of the stranger things I have done in theatre...

At the start of class we had to stand up and present a short story about a childhood memory or something similar. Once we were all done, our lecturer stood up, got out a bottle of talcum powder, and began pouring it on the floor.

We then proceeded to repeat the storytelling exercise while walking in the talcum powder! I was the first one to go so my footprints were first! It was oddly satisfying.

We then carried on with class as normal spreading the powder everywhere. And I mean everywhere. It got into every nook and cranny and I am glad I didn't have to clean it all up!

So fun and interesting times in my neck of the woods!

Two Sides of Happiness...

I love the warmth and glow of summer and the comforting closeness of winter.
This weekend I got to have both.

Saturday brought sun. I did three loads of laundry, hung it all out, read my book in the sun, went for a walk and felt hot. It was like summer was on the way. I felt relaxed, light and happy. It was gorgeous.

Its Sunday now and I'm sitting inside wrapped in a blanket, drinking hot coffee and watching movies. And outside the rain is pouring down. Its comforting, relaxing, cozy. I'm warm and happy.

There are so many different ways to feel happy, does your mood change depending on the weather? Or are you like me and enjoy the comforts of both? Enjoy your weekends loves. I'm feeling very content right now.

{About Your Blog!}

What Was The Inspiration Behind Your Blog?
When my baby was born I started the downward spiral of sweatpants and hoodies. I needed someone to be accountable to, and so ModaMama was born.

I hope you enjoy my daily ramblings, thoughts on fashion, and of course the "True Story" *true event in my life - often involving silliness or a raised eyebrow* or random "Quote of Today" *something quirky that I hear in my everyday life*. Please stick around for all the adventures, and prepare yourself for some bad outfit choices - because I'm sure I'll make them!

What Is Your Favourite Part of the Blogging Experience so Far?
Pictures, pictures! I love taking and looking at all the wonderful pictures!

What Impact Does Blogging Have on Your Life?
It's really a chance to be creative in fashion, photography, and writing on a daily basis. Something that gives me an outlet where I wouldn't otherwise get one.

{About You!}

What Are Some of Your Favourite Hobbies?
I love to read, take photos, run, do Kung Fu, and play board games! But hey, I wouldn't turn down a foot massage from my husband either.

What is Your Favourite Season? Why?
Love summer! I live for the warmth and the fun summer dresses. Not one built for the cold, I'm always cold, so when the sun and high heat rolls around I'm in heaven!

What Are Your Current Obsessions?
Palazzo Pants - Loving this style and can't wait to rock them!

A Perfect Sunday...

I know, I know. Its Thursday and I'm only just writing about my Sunday, but I have the flu and have had a lot on this week, so I think I can be forgiven...

Sunday brought the first (but probably not the last) O.C marathon/ Dessert party/ Crafty day for Abby and I.
We pigged out on delicious cupcakes, cookie dough dip (which is the best thing ever!), cheesecake and pizza. It was pouring with rain outside and we were covered in blankets. The O.C has got to be one of my all time favs and I find it so comforting watching it over and over. We also got out our crafty bits and pieces and made a few things (photos to come). So all in all it was a perfect day, and we will definitely do it again. Although maybe a little less sugar next time...

I'm working on getting back on top of my blogging schedule. I promise!

Party Hard Kids

This Saturday night I donned blue jeans, a white shirt and red boots in order to celebrate "America the Beautiful" That's right, I may be a New Zealander but I still rocked the colours of some of you lovely ladies favourite flag.

It was the 21st birthday of one of my theatre classmates, and she just happens to be on an exchange from America. hence the theme. If I'm totally honest I didn't rock the outfit for very long. Somehow my feet have shrunk (does this happen?) and my red boots are now waay to big for me. So after wearing 3 pairs of socks under the boots for 30 minutes I thougth stuff it and took them off. Which is why I look severly underdressed in all the photos of the night. Oh well.

It was a fantastic night that lasted until around 4am with me stumbling through my door in the pouring rain, and trying not to wake my flatmates up. I succeeded. I'm like a ninja.
21 Shots for the birthday girl

She only managed about 7 of them. I may have helped with 2 or 3

Beautiful pink Beer Pong cups!

I subbed on for Amanda when she needed a break. I lost.

Luckily Amanda took the fall and became the "Troll" under the table. Apparently its the rule when you lose... Who knew?

Wacky Theatre Antics...

You may or may not know but I am not only a film geek Screen Media major, but I also dabble in a bit of Theatre Studies as my minor. And I just had to fill you in a little on what we have been doing recently in my class. Cause its pretty ridiculous!

So for my current paper we have to devise our own play to perform at the end of the semester. Ok doesn't sound too bad right? On top of that we are doing absurd theatre, so basically it has to be entertaining but not make much sense...

So my lecturer has decided the best way for us to come up with a brilliant, entertaining, ground breaking piece of absurd theatre is to do crazy warm-ups at the start of class, then write how we felt about each weird little thing.

I feel like we look like this ALL the time!
via

And boy are they weird! So far we have practised walking in front of each other, held each others ankles and shuffled around on the floor, wrapped people up as mummies, pretended to be magnets and attached ourselves to other people, made magazines flap around like birds, done 80's aerobics, practised stretching our voices (involves a lot of weird sighing and mouthing like an idiot) and acting a 24 hour day in 2 minutes. I never know what to expect! I have come home with bruises on my knees and arms from falling on the ground and crawling around the floor.
Its definitely absurd.

Yup we have done this one too...
via

But I love it! All I know is we are 5 weeks in and haven't started writing the play itself...
It is going to be an interesting semester...
